Depistage du colon cancer

My husband's result has come back positive so our MT has advised he makes an appointment for a colonoscopy and given us a letter.

My question is, is there a protocol for a time frame when all this should happen?

I tested positive just over a year ago and they contacted my MT who contacted me and arranged a contact with a consultant in the local clinic. I had an appointment the following day and a colonoscopy 3 days later. I was all clear but you can see how serious they view this.

Can’t your doctor recommend a gastro doctor for you to contact?

Thanks DW, she has told us who to contact and given a letter for that specialist. When I phone for the RDV I guess I say to the secretary "mon mari besoin une RDV urgent parce que le depistage du cancer colon est positive"?

I assume he has just taken a poo sample? so there is blood in it? not necessary cancer, lots of reasons for it hence the colonoscopy, I have had three and operated on twice to remove Polyps, the second time was because one of them was too near my appendix and needed a bigger hospital and better qualified staff, when taking his medicine "Moviprep" just before get some nice soft baby wipes to use instead of loo roll, he will thank you for it.

Back in March I was diagnosed with diverticulitis after having had a scan and examination. Antibiotics cleared it up but 2 weeks later it flared up again, also cleared with antibiotics. My doctor arranged for a colonoscopy in Pontivy hospital in April which was cancelled as the specialist was ill. The appointment was rearranged for 9 July which was also cancelled on the 4th July as the same doctor was in a serious accident and will be out until November. There is a replacement doctor, but both him and the other specialist are either busy or on holiday and I have been told that my doctor has to ring to make a new appointment on 7 August.

I must admit, this is the first time in 21 years that I have had to wait for an operation or hospital appointment.

MOTM, what area are you, as 22 and 56 seems to be quite busy. I guess summer is not a good time to get ill!

I was also diagnosed with diverticulitis after a colonoscopie some years ago. I was told to avoid certain foods - anything with pips in which could lodge in one of the little sacs. So no strawberries, raspberries, hard grains or nuts, particularly walnuts in any shape or form. I do eat softer nuts like almonds and cashews but chew them well and I'm very careful with grainy bread. I drink plenty of water and, touch wood, have never had a problem since.
