Weather ... again

#641 Post by Chappers51 »

April gave us beautiful weather, May has started with a vengeance. After a warm morning celebrating the village tree planting the late afternoon opened with thunderstorms and hailstones the size of peas plus.

The garden needs the water but I could do without the hailstones.

About thunderstorms elsewhere, in the Netherlands. Impressive pictures by a weatherman/stormchaser/photographer of a supercell above Nijmegen. Walking somewhere in the field? Be careful. More pictures of stormchaser Wouter van Bernebeek.

As Blaze has pointed out April was without showers - well almost. The last couple of days of April, we did get a few. It is now making up for it with a lot of rain the last couple of days and more forecast from now to the weekend.

Oh well a good excuse to stay in and do the tax return. :!:

More rain here overnight and very welcome it is too. Our water butts are full again and the grass is no longer greener elsewhere. It's amazing the amount of water that the strawberries and blackcurrants need ....

Our department is on Alerte Orange Canicule for the first time ever. (We didn't move to Brittany for this sort of temperature  )
Fortunately we get a light sea breeze in the afternoon, but we still shut doors windows and shutters during the hot hours.

There was trail run west of us where 3 competitors were taken to hospital en urgence absolue. Utter lunacy to run in such temperatures when they're not used to it ...
