Water restrictions

Perhaps a daft question, but why are you using dehumidifiers in this heat ?

I have run out of bottled rainwater used the frost from the deep freeze and run the dehumidifier for a few hours to collect lime free water

I expect soon that there will be some regulation demanding the source continues to flow into the river for use for all downstream.

Our puit de source is piped from several regards to the house and farm buildings, with a holding tank underground, just above the house (we're built into a hill). The overflow runs into a concrete trough (probably the old "wash-room"!), then goes under the road and finds it's way towards the river that flanks our lower boundary. So, yes, what we don't use goes on to the water table - there is no tap to turn the overflow off!

What would you do if you saw a near neighbour topping up their pool? Would you risk telling the authorities or would you keep quiet. Would it make a difference if they were French, or English?

I would have a quiet word and suggest that if I had seen it, others might too and then remind them of the fine = €1500.

But I live in a village where others might indeed see the act.

Some areas have restrictions where topping up a pool is still allowed (so far). Filling an empty one is not.

Some people don't care one way or the other. I suspect a neighbor of ours filled their empty pool, after having works done to it (the trucks coming and going and the noise made it kind of obvious). Now, I hear lots of splashing, etc. that I have never heard before. I don't have a direct view, so I cannot say for certain. Would I report them if I knew for certain ? I kind of doubt it as if I knew, the other immediate neighbors (all French) would know also. I generally like to keep a low profile especially as these neighbors (the pool ones) are relatively new to the neighborhood and aren't at all friendly. I'll let someone else start the war.
