Servicing grass cutting machines

I think our local farmer scrimped on something.
We drove past this earlier, I said they are still burning fields she said his machines been on fire dummy.

In warm and dry weather, and with a little bit of dust and small stubs, only one spark can be sufficient. One of the local farmers here saw his combine harvester go up in flames in 2018. In the early morning hours he had cleaned this expensive piece of equipment thoroughly, pressure washing everything. It wasn't uncommon with some of the older combines. One farm I was working on had just that problem when bits of straw/grain on the hot manifold caught fire. It was scary because we were afraid the whole field would go up but fortunately the driver managed to put it out. Hence the importance of having fire extinguishers ....

@ RA and Blaze, it is bone dry out there. Never seen anything like that before.

A field down the road from my previous house was pretty thoroughly burnt one day. The farmer had been out with this roundbailer making hay. A bearing in the bailer ran dry, got hot, and caught fire. Oops!
