Personal bins seems to be contrary to the direction many are taking - well done.
I just hope that the commuters with their bags of waste (presumably from other communes with a more restrictive waste regime) don't just become fly-tippers.

The problem is not just human : bags had to be put out the morning of collection or the foxes, rodents etc had a field day ...

We had our rubbish and recycling 'bacs', in the small car park at the end of our lane, replaced a few years ago by underground bins, which are emptied weekly. So far so good.
These bins are vast and, as yet, they haven't become overloaded even at our busiest holiday periods.
I like the idea that different locations find different solutions to the rubbish/recycling collection problem.

I live in a hamlet (?) of two dwellings at a crossroads. For years it was served by a communal bin located on the corner less than 50 metres from my door. One day it disappeared. Now I have to carry my sacs uphill along a lane about 250 metres.
At least its easier on the return trip.

We went from communal bins to private bins a couple of years ago, t'was supposed to work out cheaper for householders but it's not.

Our decheterie's changed everything as well, instead of being a ten minute in out and away home, it took us over an hour the other day - I'm going back to burning my garden tree prunings from now on, life's too short.

Our commune has the new underground bins but, as yet we don't have to swipe cards for the household bags. Not sure how long before we have to pay.

Since getting our new individual bins my wife, not wanting to mess 'em up, has taken to composting the mucky stuff.
Amazing how much 'stuff' we don't put in the bin now.
