Re: Try not to get ill anytime soon
Some weeks ago I talked to the retired Parisian surgeon who is often doc in charge of pop-up vax clinics here about this very topic.
He shrugged and said that most medics had to be vaccinated against various diseases in his time training and as a doc otherwise they couldn't work so what's the problem with one more? Of course health and care workers should be Covid vaccinated unless there are valid medical reasons for non-vaccination.

How do people live without at least one dog in the house?

Tout à fait, exile.
@Pathca - exactly. Our daughter (60-70 hours working week) has to have several tests/vaccinations every 3 months to protect her and her patients.
Time for the small minority to grow up and abandon some of their "freedoms".

Absolutely true and I agree with all you and others have said in the matter of compulsion. As a driver, though I disagree with compulsion in this one area, seat belt wearing for drivers, I nevertheless obey the law and always wear one. Fortunately for me it wasn't compulsory for HGV drivers before I retired.exile wrote: ↑Wed Sep 15, 2021 11:15 pm
We have at least one former HGV driver here with all the rules he had to follow.
So let's be adult about this. WE are all subject to rules that protect ourselves and protect those around us. Covid injections for those in close contact with the medically most vulnerable in our community does not sound like an over reaction to me.

@ Exile, Pathca, Mad, Spardo .... absolutely. I find the pretext of "liberty" for not having a vaccination utterly ridiculous. An ordered society needs rules to live by otherwise we would have anarchy. Perhaps people who refuse the vaccine also feel that speed limits are an infringement of their liberty ...
Did these same refuseniks remonstrate against the compulsory multi-vaccination of their children in the name of liberty ?

Indeed, I don't remember ever being asked for my permission for all those jabs I had as a child.Did these same refuseniks remonstrate against the compulsory multi-vaccination of children in the name of liberty ?

I doubt children are considered "competent" to make that sort of decision ! But I meant the refuseniks who have children. (I've amended my post

Gillick competence in the UK does allow teenagers whose parents would not consent for them (the teenagers ) to be vaccinated ,to say they want it despite their parents opinions

Pathca Full marks to the teenagers in this area who have been queuing up for the vaccine. Without wishing to sound patronising, it's good to see so many accepting responsibility.

There was a big laugh amongst UK medical peeps because the Gillick competency is about teenagers getting contraception without parents consent, contraception which comes with a far bigger risk of clotting than the vaccine

Doesn't it raise questions as to why these people working in the healthcare system, and obviously are or have been witness to the amount of suffering and deaths caused, are refusing to take a vaccine that they are giving to the rest of us. Do they know something we don't?
