This is beginning to look an awful lot like another politically motivated thread - So if its not Macron let me think who the OP might consider we look at as a Saviour of France? - Asking for a friend

We can’t correct the mistakes of the past,we should learn from them.Which is why I don’t agree with ripping statues down etc. Make sure that the history behind them is well documented and well displayed

Hitler was regarded as the Saviour of Germany and look what happened there!

I totally agree, I am sick of having the sins of people who had nothing to do with me or mine having to be apologised for on my behalf. Nor do I want same sex relationships thrown at me all the time on TV as if it's the norm rather than a tiny minority.

To be fair it isn’t a tiny minority,it’s a minority but not tiny.It probably appeared tiny in the past because people were afraid to reveal their true selves

It's a big mistake (apart from theft and criminal damege) to tear down statues.

Definitely history, when relevant, should be remembered.
Last night I duly watched the two episodes of the new FRENCH documentary "Apocalypse Hitler attacks the east" transmitted by France 3. An excellent two hours, all in colour, with some extraordinary film clips. Leningrad, Kiev, Moscow, Stalingrad, Koursk the key names to remember.
Thought, it was only after the retreat from Moscow that Hitler declared war on the U. S. A.

Does that mean that the eastern bloc shouldn't have pulled down their statues after russian domination?
I don't think its as black and white as all that.
