Why should it be made compulsory? There are millions of people that don’t want to engage with the idiots that stand for election.

Because many of the millions then complain about the decisions made by the idiots.

With a "none of the above" box plus a requirement for a successful candidate to score over 50% or more than the "none of the above" then there is an effective way for the millions to express their displeasure with the idiots in a meaningful way that could have an effect.

What sort of effect? How many of the complainers would be willing to stand as a candidate and do it "better" whilst working silly hours? It's much easier to attack than to defend.
