Blaze, sending my thoughts with you as you head south to give help - bon courage to you and your team in what you face. All your training and experience will be very much needed. Take care of yourselves. Xx

+1. Bon courage, and keep us posted.

Smoke woke me up again in the middle of the night - I guess the wind shifted direction, I'm on the NE tip of Dordogne. It was either the Gironde fires or some other idiot closer to home .... :?

RobertArthur wrote: Sun Jul 26, 2026 11:45 pm Blaze, your team already has a wealth of experience, but this is something quite different. If I were in your shoes tomorrow morning, I’d feel as though I were heading into a war zone. And given the scale of the enormous disaster currently unfolding around Bordeaux, it certainly looks that way when I see all the images appearing in the press. You’re already taking plenty of masks with you; perhaps you should add a batch of old-fashioned (?) Michelin maps to the mix as well. You never know what might happen to the telecoms infrastructure when mobile phone masts and the ENEDIS network partially fail, and you’ll be in unfamiliar territory there anyway.

Wishing you and the other members of the team all the best.
+ 1. Take care, Blaze.

Bon courage Blaze, we had some rain overnight so I’m hoping it reached the affected area. I could still smell the smoke throughout yesterday, but the rain has helped to clear the atmosphere here.´

Sorry I've not read all of the posts here - not had the time so maybe this has already been said but I cannot understand why it has taken so long to actually get on and do something such dropping water bombs - digging ditches etc - they knew it was coming. It's terrible for all of those who have lost everything and for those about to. I guess the insurers will view it as an act of God and they wont pay out ?
