Problem getting wood for the burner

Our usual wood delivery person has said this when I asked if I could order wood -

"A causse des incendie On et interdiction avec tronçonneuse pour le bois on verras dans 1mois désolé "

Has anyone else found this? We usually order in August so nothing new there.

Maybe using petrol for the chainsaw isn't allowed, or possible sparks?

Agreed. However, the wood has probably been cut and left stacked in situ for 2 or 3 years but in 1m lengths or longer and perhaps it's there that they cut it into smaller lengths/pieces as needed.

We asked for 1 m lengths, it's usually cheaper to cut ourselves

By the way I think they store it in 2 metre lengths as it’s less easy to steal.
I’m keeping my doigts croisses for September as I don’t have enough wood in to go through the winter.

I have a couple of trees earmarked for coming down so I'd better get cracking just in case my Sept. delivery is held up.

I've got more than enough firewood stored to last us through the coming winter & dozens of 6m trunks from chestnut trees I cut down 3 years ago plus a shed load of oak all nicely dry & ready to log up to store for 2023/24/25 winters.
I'm struggling to raise the enthusiasm to do this work & have been using the 'far too hot for that nonsense' card to avoid it.
Nice to read that chainsaws are now prohibited 'cos of the fire risk as I've now got a genuine reason to put off this job.

And yet I hear someone doing some chainsaw work on the hill above us! I know the river is between us - but all the trees touch.
