Nasty, Stupid, Thick, Discriminatory or what?

#1 Post by Wilbro »

Take your pick one or all of them!

"The UK government has updated its travel rules for England to say that people arriving who have had doses of two different Covid vaccines are not considered fully vaccinated. It means they will not be able to skip quarantine if travelling from amber countries such as France."

It doesn't affect us but as scientists have said that it's fine to mix vaccines what do the planks in the UK govt. think they are doing and why?

Unfortunately, following comments by a quasi-ineffective President, many will have - including Angela Merkel.

I read that there is also a problem with people who have had Covid.
In France those people are considered fully vacc'd after one shot of vaccine, but the UK says you need to have had 2 - so at the moment, despite holding an EU Covid certificate they will still have to quarantine.

It would have been so much simpler to have some sort of unified requirement throughout the EU and had the UK still been part of it then Bogo the Incompetent wouldn't have had to tax his brain cells too much.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Membership of the EU is irrelevant - here we are in the scheme.

Actually, I think devolution has not helped - with different rules in the different nations - with each trying to outdo the other.

But then politicians seem to have exempted themselves from the rules!

We wouldn't go near the place were it not for family there. It's hardly a holiday destination at the moment (Scotland excluded!)

I was helping out at a pop-up vaccination clinic here in our village on Saturday. I had a chat with the Doc about the two UK issues concerning those who have had two different vaccines and those who, like me, have had Covid and just one dose of vaccine.
He was astounded!
Having looked at my vacc. pass he said I could have a second dose that day, no problem, but that if I didn't need to travel to the UK yet to wait and see what happens re the rules AND re the booster vaccines coming soon as these are being tweaked to combat new strains.
How do people live without at least one dog in the house?

Going back to the OP - It's an odd decision because as far as the UK government are concerned, if you've had two different vaccinations under the UK vaccination scheme you're considered to be fully vaccinated, so I would assume that this is some sort of bizarre political reason.

But no need to get worked up about it, they'll change their mind in a few days - if they haven't already.
