Scammers - are they really that stupid?

#1 Post by exile »

The last week or so I have received a series of messages from La Poste Colissimo purporting to advise me of a delivery. The email address looks plausible but is wrong:
no-reply@notif-colissimo-laposte.info

The mail requires me to do nothing but does allow me to track a package.....

.... which is due for delivery on:
Samedi 27 décembre 2022

Oh sh1t that means Christmas eve is tomorrow night and I've got nothing in yet!!!

So next year I am going to produce a scammers' Agenda - just so they know the days and dates and how they interact with one another.

I guess on the day before you will get a follow-up for the "small payment".

Talking of scammers, I got caught by one on eBay.

I ordered Mrs N some perfume and cashmere jumpers - but received a load of old car parts. Luckily, they just happen to fit the car I am doing up at the moment.

Been getting this scam for a few days now two and more per day  today I had three of them, I noticed the date as well but still checked the calendar!

OH has just checked my spam folder on Orange - 53 since Saturday! None of them reached my inbox. A large proportion Chronoposte/Colissimo.

I had 26 scam emails today. Orange bangs them in spam but a damn nuisance. Every day at least 10 or 12.

Same here. I also put them on a block list but some still get through.

One of the ways the UK scam works is to persuade victims to transfer their bank account contents to another account under their control. Victims have reported losing five and six-figure sums.

Transferring money from my French account, it seems capped by default at €2K per month - so unless my bank is an exception, I am not sure what the scammers hope to achieve.
