It's meant to be bad in France now, I have not even seen a bog standard mosquito this year.
Plenty of harvest mite but you don't see them.
A mutant fat black fly bite me on the face but he had an early death.

Re: Tiger mosquito's
harvest mites - are they fruit flies? We've had a few but keep them at bay with (used) wine bottle corks, hic. Works a treat.
The thing we haven't seen much of this year is wasps.

Harvest mites MAD87 called so because they used to be about at harvest time but with climate warming they are about all summer, in french aoutat.
So small you won't notice them but their bite is penible.

No all over as they are not choosy.
Put it like this they will go up till they meet elastic or other restriction. Then bite.

Re: Tiger mosquito's
I've never known a person to be troubled by harvest mites but they really go for animals like dogs and horses. Between their toes, in their ears and on foreheads. I've never seen just a single mite (they're very, very tiny) and only realise they're giving problems when they do their usual clustering and en masse appear like a small, rough, ginger, crusty mark on the skin.

We were in the Dordogne in July and the mosquitoes were everywhere. We put fly screens on the bedroom window, sprayed the gite with fly killer and still they bit us all through the night. Never had that problem before.
