Call the cops??
Last night there was another rave in drug central but a strangely silent one. All the usual suspects started turning up on foot quite late but they are little by little passing by today on their way home? In the wee hours last night there were voices that woke us up, a car door slamming, etc. then it went quiet. This morning there is a car parked in the centre of the lawn behind the house. Nothing to be done about it so we went out and as of now, 13:23 it is still there. No note on it saying it has broken down, etc. If I tow it out and leave it somewhere else can I get into trouble? There are some druggies living nearby that occasionally host the really noisy raves that last all night and I wouldn't want to p*** them off. None of the police or gendarme offices are open today to make a complaint. I'm at a loss as to what to do about it. This will be the thin end of a wedge if I just let it pass without taking some sort of action. I called the gendarmes last time the noise was unbearable and gave them details of a car parked opposite that I was convinced had been dealing drugs all night but nothng came of it.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Yes, call the cops on 17. Doesn't matter if your local is closed, they'll come out from the nearest caserne.

Call the cops??
Well apart from the difficulty with the language, I read that if it was not an actual emergency, I could be prosecuted.
Update: Some people turned up, standing around the car chatting, I asked if there was a problem with the car, No . "We are just leaving". OK, no problem, but next time ..........this is not public parking area. Their response was polite and not full of attitude.
That was a lot different from last time when half a dozen of them (not the same people) followed me right up to my door and gave me aggro while one of them went around the corner and had a dump in the same area.

Apart from the infamous French bureaucracy, this is the downside of living here. Illegal raves and indifferent cops.

Whilst not ideal I think the fact that you didn't make contact with the police worked in your favour. Sorted without any aggro.

Well up to that point there was (as I see it) no need for police attention. Apart from tresspass which I don't think is recognised
in France, there was nothing to complain about. If their attitude had been similar to last time it would be another matter.
I will be fitting a sturdy chain across the area to prevent further intrusion. Ugly but effective. In the last 15 years there has been no bother at all but with the frequent popup all night raves this is a new dimension. I don't need it.

Sorry for the late reply. As usual our internet has been down. This time for a full week.
I doubt calling 17 would do any good. The nearest cop shop is only open two half days a week and the nearest gendarmerie is closed all day Sunday. Not much use. When a booze-fuelled car went off the road and stopped on its roof after hitting an empty house across the road from us, it took over half an hour to get any response from the emergency numbers. Thank goodness it didn't catch fire.

@Hotrodder You would not be prosecuted for ringing 17 if your local station is shut !!
If you have land that could easily be accessed by the public, you could put huge stones to keep vehicles out. Chains and fences can be cut/broken.
Raves/impromptu parties are a pain and if they know they can get on your land, the word will get around ....
