British Grand Prix F1

#1 Post by France in Focus »

I was gobsmacked yesterday watching qualifying, the spectators were all squashed in like sardines and not a mask in site.

The commentators kept making the point that everyone had either been double jabbed or had had a covid test - but you can still get covid if you've been jabbed and you can certainly carry it and pass it on to people.

With the covid rates rising over there you'd think people would take a bit more care. Especially after the Euro football matches which seem to have helped spread it.

Beggers belief.

Agree, they just dont seen to care, what a difference here, went last evening to the annual open evening at our vine yard ( canceled last year)
A dozen local enterprises serving local foods, wine from the cave.
A few hundred there eating outside but as soon as anyone left their table to get food or talk to neighbours they put a mask on.

'tis odd - different attitudes I suppose.

Anyway I'm looking forward to seeing how this new 'qualifying' sprint race is going to turn out, probably going to be a bit of a damp squib, but we'll see.

Exactly, which is why if everyone who can be vaccinated is vaccinated , they should be protected from the worst symptoms, réanimation, and taking up the beds/staff of those who need necessary, non-Covid operations, many of which have had to be postponed.
Even vaccinated, we will still need to take care.
Sorry, thread drift ....

Bit unfair about the number of people, have you been watching the Tour, tens of thousand's all shouting and screaming one or two masks being worn but it looked like the older ones, as said football I think 60k in a stadium, we will watch the F1 today but we only put it on from the race start ie 1600Hrs our time, don't like all the chit chat beforehand, its a very fine balance between protecting people form a disease and giving them back there freedom, we live in a democracy so people will feel that they have done enough and bu**** everyone else.

Maybe I was being unfair - but it was the first enclosed sporting event that I'd seen with full capacity fans, and I was a bit shocked seeing all those people in close proximity.

Anyhow, I didn't watch to the end of the race.

Well we are still not meeting people, so we will find out if all these mass gatherings at sporting events will come back to bite them in their butts. It was said at the GP that all had to prove two jabs and/or negative test, which is more than could be said at the Euros.
