To get you through your recovery period, @MAD87 you could get some help with the garden and claim back 50% of the cost from les impots. Use a registered company to do it.

We do that and it has been such a relief.

Yesterday we had loads of cherries on our tree. Early this morning a gang of starlings arrived - there is now hardly any left.

We've used that system in the past, but I like to slip the sons a note now and then from my pension repayment pot which hardly goes down.
@ajm We had an overgrown cherry tree in our last garden, and I always left the upper branches (where the best fruit were) for the birds.

Our tree is very tall. Normally the birds start at the top where we can't get the fruit but then there is a small window for us to pick from the lower branches. Not this year.
