We've got Glastonbury (or Glaston-berry as the Americans call it!) out of the way. Now Wimbledon to enjoy in the afternoons .....

Alcaraz is the favourite to win the Mens' (could be Nadal's replacement, @demi ? :) ) Although Lajal is giving him a run for his money! Who is the favourite for the Ladies? Certainly not Heather Watson, gone already.

I'll have to pick some of our woodland/wild strawberries and plonk some mascapone on them to complete the experience. Nothing resembling Pimms around these 'ere parts unfortunately (unless anyone has a substitute recommendation????! She says, hopefully!)

Home made Pimms

1 measure Gin (preferably a 40%+ if you can find it)
1 measure Red vermouth
1 measure Orange curacao

Allow to mix for an hour or so before adding lemonade (a dry clear sparkling lemonade)
Add a slice of lemon, orange, cucumber and a sprig of borage and mint.

Not quite the same but on a dark foggy night after you have just finished your super hot vindaloo, you might not spot the difference.

Triple Sec if you cannot get the curacao but it will alter the colour.

Lajal certainly wasn't a walkover for Alcaraz. I shan't be surprised if Andy backs out of his match tomorrow but I shall be sorry if his career ends with such a damp squib. Emma seems to be back on something approaching her 2021 form and is being made to play her best in her first round match. Lots to look forward to.
It can rain now if it wants - I'll just submerse myself in a Wimbledon fest.

NO!! No one can ever replace Rafa.

ANd I think Sinner has a really good chance of winiing it.

He's withdrawn from the singles but will play in the doubles.

I see Andy Murray is out.

from: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/tennis/2024 ... 4-singles/

. . . Murray told reporters: “It [his right leg] just wasn’t where I wanted it to be . . .

It looks like it is in the correct place next to his left leg to me - where did he want it to be?
