I was only curious & thought maybe you had a mega kilowatt electric melodeon

I tried an electronic piano accordion a few times but couldn't get on with it. It had no soul - loads of gimmicky sounds and instruments though but far too complicated. Electronic melodeons are harder to find but I've no intention of look for one

No choice but to have 18kw and 3-phase All of which makes it far less economical nowadays than was promised initially. On balance, though, for what is virtually electric heating and hot water, it's just about manageable. I've switched from an induction hob to bottled gas, though, and have to be very strict about only using appliances during HC.

I've no idea what system you have or what it's output is but:-
18 kw of direct electricity would heat a 'medium' size, well insulated house without recourse to a heat pump system.
18 kw input to a heat pump at a coefficient of performance (COP) of say 3, ie 3 x 18kw (approx) would heat a large house.
The above figures are rule of thumb & I realise that probably electricity consuming pumps are involved & starting currents may be high but my initial reaction is 18 kw????

I have just built a new computer, with multiple monitors, multiple fans, powered speakers.

Along with that, I have twin LED lamps, the Internet Router and various USB chargers all on the same feed. I have just put a meter on the circuit and it pulls 320 watts.

I was very surprised - it is amazing how low powered devices are nowadays.

Respect! I've never met anyone else that builds their own computers. I'm on my second one since about 2008. The first one is still running but I keep it going as a backup in case my latest one goes belly up.

Well for work I really need Windows, sadly - and I was reluctant to just reformat my Linux box - so I built a second one. I had long discussions on noise and cooling for video work also - so much so that I may rehouse my old PC in the same case as the new one if the case ever goes on sale again. I will also put the power monitor on the old PC for comparison.

What was interesting is that I put the list of bits into PC Part Picker and that gives a massively extra power consumption over what I am seeing. My PSU is thus total overkill - but it was one I had knocking around.

Also, I have gone full circle from desktops to laptops and back to desktops again.

Same here, J, though my laptop is useful for photos. There are programmes on it that are incompatible with my desktop (typical Mac) including our printer.

We have 6kw powering hot water cylinder (heated overnight on a timer), the electric bits on the gas boiler, washing machine (overnight use), dishwasher (daily use but one of the shorter washes), hardly-used TV, led lights everywhere and 2 lots of computers with their accessories - on mostly all day, 7/7. I have an electric oven and various other kitchen stuff, but I mostly use the gas hob, microwave and halogen oven. There's a lot you can do with 6kw!
