It is often difficult to know which delivery service the seller will be using. If I see it is going to be DPD I cancel the order. I've wasted way too much time trying to get something successfully delivered by that shower.
There is also the problem of several different companies taking parcels to a single depot and then from there the parcels get loaded into unmarked vans for final delivery. I suspect these vans are self-employed drivers who just turn up on the day for a load on a per parcel rate. Virtually impossible to make contact with anyone that knows anything when trying to chase up a delivery. The competence of some of the drivers is questionable to say the least, including the ones who leave a note saying the address couldn't be found due to incomplete address.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Three little words is odd in that it gives completely different words for any position according to the language used. If you use the App in English and gave the words generated to a user using the App in French it would not help them at all.
It makes sense to use the French version of the app if you're living in France Having said that, I've just had a play with w3w and it's obviously linked to Google Maps, because having generated the 3 words correctly, when I entered them it then came up with the (wrong) address. Precisely the one where my parcels ended up! So in answer to hughnique's question, no it doesn't work any better
I have had the same problem when our address changed because there was another village within the same vast postcode area with the same street name but not the same house number.
Chronopost used to be the worst often citing unable to find the address and returned to depot and on one occasion I could track the delivery van as it went up and down the right street in the wrong village. I tried our address in Googlemaps and Viamichelin and both changed the address to the other commune*. I now add geocoordinates to the delivery information.
Most of our deliveries at the moment get passed onto Chronopost who in turn pass them on to La Poste for delivery and now no problems. No idea how billing works between the companies when DHL have handled the pick up, passed on to Chronopost who get La Poste to deliver - as with one of last week's parcels.
* So don't automatically blame the delivery driver.

I’ve seen it talked about on sever British forums where it’s seen as being the best tool to use in case of emergency. It is however useless sending the pompiers three English words that, even if translated, mean nothing. It’s a huge weakness in the system.

Isn't it rather a huge weakness on the part of the Brits who can't or won't master 3 French words? If I was a nasty person, I'd be inclined to think that they deserve their fate, but I'm not so I won't

We also get codes sent but they are never asked for nor do they even bother with a signature. I mentioned this to one driver as he handed me the parcel and turned to walk away. "No, don't bother, not important"
No wonder parcels go astray.
If your orders have been delivered somewhere else and the occupant knows they're holding your property without a legitimate reason, you can make a complaint to the gendarmes for theft (vol).

I think it’s simply a lack of knowledge. The simply presume that the words generated will be the same everywhere.
