That's great news MOTM2, fingers crossed ! Sherlock definitely has a character of his own !!

It's funny that some animals love to be groomed but others don't.

If Sherlock's fur is clean and not knotting, do not get hung up about him not liking the brush. He is obviously doing a good job of keeping his coat in good condition - something that is much more difficult with really long haired cats.

Cats keep themselves in remarkable condition though as you say it's difficult for long-haired cats like Persians. I've seen a couple of the poor things knocked out at the vets so that they can be de-knotted because their owners had not kept them groomed - possibly because their cats wouldn't let them. It wasn't a pretty sight because the vet was pretty ruthless.

Our Aussies Shepherds have never liked being groomed since they were small. Despite regular brushing, one of them does get knots from time to time, particularly around the back end because she has really hairy "trousers". I cut out the knots, dead simple, not a struggle and you can't see a thing.

That's just reminded me that we once had a black, long-haired cat who was known in our village as "Baggy Trousers"
