I have one of those as well. Never had a pill spat out
But I have got scars to show what happens when your third hand does not secure the front feet.

oh have we had trouble getting a 1/4 pill down kitty's throat twice a day for the last week. We have the scars etc so I thought I'd post this and apologies if it's been mentioned before but it does work. Take an old sweat shirt or thick jumper put over kitty's head, use the sleeves to slightly restrict movement, get kitty between your knees/legs, chin up, open mouth and down it goes - phew only another 4 days to go

Insulin injections, another topic. Our cat tolerates it very well. Less active than before, almost 21 years now... Still hunting (frogs..) and always asking your attention when he spots you: something to eat?

Our gorgeous rescue Madame Minou had stress diabetes when we took her in at 14 after she was chucked out into the street when her lovely owner died.
She tolerated the insulin jabs very well but, thankfully, she ceased to need them after around 6 or so months with us.
She was 20 when she died.

One of ours - Shaun (so called because when he arrived he was in such a state we had to cut off almost all of his fur) - is now on daily tablets due to a kidney problem. They must taste nice because there is never a problem giving him the daily dose. He has no teeth (another problem we had to deal with and in part at least the cause of the state of his fur) but he can still do major damage with his claws when so minded.
