He just wolfed down some tiny bits of raw salmon (with tablets hidden in them) and some yoghurt with Bifidobacterium!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

I'll try him with some more soon. Little and often is probably the way to go.

PetPäl Liver Sausage for Treats from "Snack Tubo Delicious Desserts Dog Snack Made in Germany – Easy to Grasp Without Polluting Hands – from Amazon France

I used this successfully for my Lab when she had severe liver problems. Made a sandwich with a little treat with the tablet in the paste inside.

We've been away this week, but I'm glad to see Frodo seems to be doing better. Everything takes a little longer to settle with an older dog but as long as he still has a zest for life, that's what counts.

I don't blame you for getting a second opinion. We did that twice at our old place - you have to have confidence in your vet and if you haven't, you'll always regret it. We're fortunate here, we've hit on a gold mine cabinet - but they were recommended by our last vet !

Now to see if salmon is as good as it was this morning ....... If it is, then we should be able to give him all his meds for the first time in a few days. We cooked 2 chicken breasts for him yesterday but that was clearly yesterday's plat du jour and August's flavour of the month.

Aww, poor thing. If he is eating something, that is good. I bet you'll find his sweet spot. If he can eat it, be sure to try ground beef as there are creative ways to stick pills in it. Most dogs like it. Ground chicken would work too.

You'll become a chef du chien.

He hasn't refused to eat since Saturday now. He dines off sushi salmon with organic yoghurt (and various medications). He is back to barking at all kinds of things and to being bright as a button. I now have to experiment with a carbohydrate that HRH will consider worthy. Firstly, it will be noodles as he's no longer overfond of rice. I think he's learned that if he holds out long enough something better will be offered down the way.

Well it looks as if Frodo's done a good job of insisting on 5* cuisine !! No wonder it does him good
Great news that he's getting back to his old self.

Such good news. So glad to hear it.

All kinds of noodles out there to choose from. He might even like the chickpea or lentil noodles.

Hope he continues to feel better.

Sounds like Frodo is getting better fed than you @Veem .

Not that that surprises me. Our cats get a regular diet of Duck, Turkey, Wild Boar, Beef, Lamb, etc..
