Poor Frodo

#1 Post by Veem »

Frodo is no longer eating or drinking and is increasingly being sick. Poor boy has done well to live this long on meds for kidney disease and a heart murmur. But it is now his time to leave us, even though he will never seem to be far away. We are all seeing the vet at 5 o'clock. I hope he will soon meet up with his beloved Blaze & Blitz.

Il nous manquerait beaucoup et a jamais.

Sad news, and as all animal owners know, it's desperately sad to lose a beloved pet. You know that several of us here have been through it and will continue to do so at some point. We all give them the best life possible but it's so hard to let them go.
My thoughts will be with you this evening ....

You have loved them all and cared for them. It’s a horribly difficult but it’s is the right thing to do. Hugs from me.

I'm so sorry Veem. The loss of a pet is one of the hardest, most painful losses in life.

My thoughts are with you.

Sorry to hear this but it is the kind thing to do as you know. Keep those happy memories of Frodo close.

We sort of coped. By the time we arrived at the vets', Frodo was semi-conscious, so was aware of nothing, We both blubbed. But the vet was excellent; gentle, empathetic and highly professional. I've never cried so much at the euthanasia of any of my animals and that's not because I loved them any less. I simply cannot explain it. The house seems strangely empty and will do, I expect for a long time.

Thank you all for your kind comments.

Oh Veem, I am so sorry. You did the right thing in relieving Frodo's pain, but that only begins your own. You did the right thing. My heart breaks for you.

Veem, I blubbed buckets when I took my last dog to the vet for the last time. It was the right thing to do, but the vet was unsympathetic, nasty man.
I heard Rooney's claws around the hous for months after, but as othgers have said, hold on to the good times.

So sorry Veem - I've just come to this thread.

As others suggest, the problem with pet owning is that at some point we need to step up and be strong just when we are at our lowest. We have to do what is best for those in our care - the only positive is the future reminiscing about our pets and the good times and experiences with them. For us that's a large part of our conversations and day.

But the here and now is very, very hard. Best wishes.
