One advantage of the hunting season....

Probably the only advantage of the sanglier-chasing season is that there's usually a vet at our clinic on Sunday afternoons patching up hunting dogs, which is useful for any of the rest of us needing a vet urgently.
Today we had a wee stray dog running around the village, clearly well-looked after but no collar. After touring round with it squeaking and scrabbling in the back of my car trying to find it's owner I rang the on-call vet who said he was at the clinic and could find time to check for a chip. Yeah! Chipped and the owner answered the phone!
They said the dog is an expert in tunnelling out, though they have done everything to keep him in. They were some way away at friends, so we kept him at home until they got back.
