Thank you all. I managed to get to see a doctor this morning, who was such a lovely man. I wish all doctors could have this man's aura of serene calmness, empathy and confidence. I walked in registered with an equally lovely lady doctor trying hard to retire and walked out registered with this kind man who, as a bonus, speaks flawless English.
I daresay Jakie's death 2 months ago has contributed along with the niggles life puts our way that turn into stress. I'll try to rest, but at the moment we're dealing with the imminent death of our much-loved (and only) dog Frodo. So stress levels won't be reduced any time soon.

I'm so glad you've seen someone and someone you liked ! That is wonderful.
Yet I'm so sorry to hear about Frodo. That puts you under so much stress and anguish. I hope you are able to do your best to rest and take care of yourself.

So sorry to hear about Jakie's death. My OH and my self have been trying hard not to stress but it's not really working as on Tuesday afternoon my 17 year old cat was grabbed by a dog on the loose on the street. She was in the dog's mouth and was shook like a rag doll. OH manged to get her from the dog's mouth but he was scratched and bitten and covered in blood but that didn't matter as she was badly injured. We went straight to the vet who said the dog had broken her back and could not be saved so she was put to sleep. I immediately emailed the Marie but we've heard nothing, It's difficult because we want to remember all the fun we had with our lovely cat but can only see her being shook to death - we are in bits at the moment and are doing what we can to support our other cat who is obviously missing her. Veem - sorry to post this on your post it's the first time I've spoken about it.
With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride

My best wishes to Veem and Sparkle my thoughts are with you both.
We lost one of our collies last year and now, another is struggling (he is 16) - in truth, we did not expect to have him by now. When he does give up, we will be left with just three, only one of which is below 10. Somehow, the wind has been taken out of our sails and we seem to have lost a measure of the enthusiasm and optimism we used to have for rescuing.

@Veem I'm glad you've managed to find both a sympathetic doc and vet. I hope the doc will be able to help you quickly.
We lost both our beloved Aussie Shepherds in the same year, it was devastating. 6 months without a dog was unbearable ..... so we cracked ....
@SparkleThat's a horrible thing to have happened to your cat and I understand what you mean about remembering the end. We saw one of our cats deliberately run over and you just can't unsee that. Our other cat was her daughter - actually she rather enjoyed being number one.

I've just been to our pharmacy and asked about the shingles (Zona) vaccine : I've seen adverts saying "talk to your pharmacist about the zona vaccination".
It was very interesting. Apparently the new vaccine, Shingrix which came out last year, is much more effective than the previous one, Zostavax.
@Wilbro I remember you mentioning Shingrix. You don't need to go to your MT, the pharmacy will do it all for you, including the rappel in 2 months time. It's being encouraged for people over 65 and I'm the perfect candidate. I don't want to suffer as my parents did and it can go on for a long time. We've all had chicken pox and I had a mild go of shingles when I was about 12 - apparently it's not uncommon.
Just got to juggle it around the Flu/Covid jab.

I had fully intended to have the Shingles vaccine ASAP, but hadn't realised that I had to wait until a year had passed from my being ill with it. Apparently, too, it is not unusual for Shingles to return around the anniversary. It's a bit like Brexit - it keeps on giving ................
