It's a horrible thing - I hope you can be vaccinated soon, Veem.

Just had my first Shingrix jab. I hope there aren't any side effects, I've got a busy day tomorrow ! Next jab in 2 months' time.

Vaccination with Shingrix is safe. However, there are many mild side effects, such as muscle pain and pain at the injection site. These symptoms can be unpleasant, but they do not last longer than three days. Serious side effects are rare. Incidentally, I had virtually no problems after my first vaccination, but the second one a few months later was unpleasant. However, this will vary from person to person.

My arm ached during the evening so had to adapt during my Pilates class and I felt incredibly tired. Same this morning if I lift the arm .... but I'm not complaining, it will pass and it's infinitely preferable to catching the lurgy. We have a lot of close contact with the public, sometimes in confined spaces and are both classed as "vulnerable" due to age etc. so are only too happy to take what's on offer. Will wait 10 days for the usual winter jabs ....

I had my first Shingrix jab about 6 weeks ago. My arm ached & I felt very tired for about 48 hours. Definitely the worst reaction I've ever had to a vaccination but not bad ebough to stop me doing anything.

I have had both vaccinations. No side effects. Get vaccinated - shingles is far worse

I had the old version of the shingles vaccine a few years ago but doctor recommended the new Shingrix, which I had the first dose today. I had the flu and Covid last week and dear doctors list also includes Prevenar 20 for pneumonia - which is in short supply at the moment - and ABRYSVO the new vaccine for RSV, which I’m having on Friday.

Was joking with the pharmacy woman today about the English quote of a pin cushion, my arms are going to be tender

I gather Shingrix (which apparently is much better than the old one) is effective for at least 5 years, perhaps more.
My arm still aches but should be better tomorrow.
We're extremely fortunate to be offered these vaccinations.

Nice to know ! It also says that "lifestyle choices" (it doesn't use that horrible expression) i.e. what you eat, exercise, sleep etc can lower the risk of dementia. Those things may also reduce other risks such as cardio-vascular problems, etc.

It is interesting when a vaccine has positive effects other than what it was actually created for.
