All guns to be fitted with an alco-lock - and will only fire if the operator is sober - that will be a good start.

The gun registration system has finally been opened up for club members who don’t hunt. It’s a bit tricky to do and you need to know the model of the gun to get the category correct. I did ours. The local gun shop charges 28 euros.

I have heard tale of an Englishman living in this area who is obviously mentally unstable, as he is hoarding weapons for when the shit hits the fan, a good reliable source maintains he has a vast array of firearms including assault rifles and the like all stored in his house in an unlocked cupboard. Evidently he belongs to a local gun club, which I am told gives him the right to start up an arsenal of his own. Believable who knows, certainly my source of info is reliable and he has seen the weapons himself.

If he has assault rifles they are a different category to hunting shotguns and sporting guns. If he has them without declaring them, he should be dobbed into the gendarmes pronto.Guns are now required to be kept in a gun cupboard.
