This isn't strictly about French administration but I couldn't think of anywhere else to post it.
I have been using LaPoste Banque for a number of years now with no complaints at all. In recent months they have started pushing something called Certicode and Certicode Plus which is their version of the EU's new 2FA bollox that is meant to make us all safer with online banking, etc. Their interpretation of this compliance is that as part of the usual logging in procedure they will send a security code to the customer's mobile phone that has to be received and entered to complete the log in. Tiresome, yes, but for most people it is doable. For me, with no network signal at the house it is not going to work. I/we have a mobile number as part of the SOSH deal but that doesn't solve the network problem. For a time there was a device that we had to buy called a Femtocell, a box that would route mobile calls through our Orange Livebox. Then Orange stopped the service. The only solution then was to buy a new mobile phone. One from a list of fairly expensive ones listed on the Orange website. Since the Mrs. needed a functioning mobile to receive messages from family we threw the required dosh at a new "smart" phone that will get network access via our wifi router.
Now I find that some time in the new year I will not be able to access my LaPoste account without buying yet another phone and sign up for another mobile account to get it up and running. Wife also has a LaPost account and will need to register the new phone to keep access to her account, the bank not allowing two different accounts to use the same mobile number. I understand that every human on the planet is required to have a mobile phone surgically implanted from birth these days but no thought has been given to the costs involved or the poor network coverage in rural areas. I have been sending emails to the bank for months and getting nowhere. Most of the time it is clear that they haven't read the email they are supposedly responding to. Bottom line?
Can anyone recommend an alternative to LaPoste Banque that doesn't require ownership of a smartphone and doesn't require a minimum balance or minimal monthly input? LaPoste was very convenient and had the cheapest fees but they are no longer feasible for me.

On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

If it's a choice of either can't you adopt Certicode & have the code sent to your 'fixed' ( VOIP) phone or 'puter'?
I use this method on several sites linked to my wife's mobile when she's not around to tell me the code she would have received.
Quelle différence entre Certicode et Certicode plus ?
Quelle différence entre Certicode et Certicode Plus ? Certicode est un service dédié aux opérations effectuées sur ordinateur et téléphone fixe, là où Certicode Plus est dédié aux smartphones.May 19, 2021

My fixed (voip) phone doesn't receive sms messages. It is voice only. So giving the bank the landline number isn't going to help. I'm faced with either finding another bank that doesn't require a fancy phone that will work through the router or coughing up more cash for another phone and connection that I will never use apart from logging in to my bank account.
My UK bank access uses a little card reader. Transferwise will send me a code via voicemail on the landline (voip). The post bank is the only one insisting on ownership of a mobile where there is no network coverage.

The way I read it is that the bank can send you a code via fixed phone or 'puter of you don't have a mobile phone.Hotrodder wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 7:26 pm My fixed (voip) phone doesn't receive sms messages. I could be wrong but surely worth checking this out.

I think I have mentioned the fact that my fixed phone does not have any way to recieve an sms, words or numbers. I do my banking by computer and can receive emails with a code if they would send one but they won't. I have explained the situation in tiresome detail three times and they have not yet come up with any kind of solution.L Austin France wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 8:30 pmThe way I read it is that the bank can send you a code via fixed phone or 'puter of you don't have a mobile phone.Hotrodder wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 7:26 pm My fixed (voip) phone doesn't receive sms messages. That would be a solution but they have not suggested it. I am writing a long explanation of the situation to send to any top brass email address I can find. If anyone knows of one please let me know. The usual help message service keeps drawing a blank, as does the usual "Contact us" communication link.

Failing anything else. Does anyone know of a bank I can try that doesn't insist on ownership of a smartphone? And don't anyone dare to suggest CA. I will slash my own throat before getting back with that shower.
