It was our dog's birthday yesterday. Since it was raining all day he got a fair bit more attention than usual. I was stuck indoors instead of out battling with the garden.
Signs of Spring? Yes. The grass is growing like fury but I can't deal with it because of the constant rain. I'm also only about half way through moving, cutting, and taking trailer loads of branches to the tip. EDF (or whatever) came along a couple of months ago and decided to remove tree branches that were growing too near the power lines along the edge of our patch. It only took the team about 20 minutes with a cherry picker and chainsaws to do the job over a distance of about 150 metres leaving all the cut branches in the ditch for me to clear up. I have to cut them into lengths that I can actually lift and drag them by hand back down the lane to further cut them to fit into my trailer parked at the bottom. Not possible to do any of this nearer the mess because of blocking the single lane alongside.
Sorry. Unable to post a photo of dog or the mess left for me to clear.

On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

I always love the first sighting of these orchids on our early morning walk.
Sorry they’re sideways on, but they do right themselves if you click on them !
