Only just seen this - it looks like the Grand Jardin taken from the ferry coming into Saint-Malo !

@ DB, reading the information about Saint Malo there might be another answer: Phare du Grand-Charpentier.

@ Blaze, let me thank you, your answer guided me to Grand Jardin. Seeing the pictures there I thought: mmm..., it stands on a rock, much higher above sealevel than DBs lighthouse. Huge difference between low and high tides? The colours of le Grand Charpentier - I've seen only one (old, recent? photo - look however different. So my answer is only an educated guess after a lighthouse crash course of ten minutes.....

And the answer is?

Yes, the tidal range here is enormous.
I would say the lighthouse is a "phare balise" which you'd leave to port coming into port but I haven't a clue where it is.
Lighthouses are fascinating .....

The tidal range where my photo was taken is much less than at Saint Malo but on very low tides it can be reached on foot from the shore.

It’s off the island under this cloud. 🙂

A week later the same view wasn’t as impressive.
