As we are preparing to repatriate ourselves back to the motherland, we are franticly trying to disperse as much stuff as possible by selling the decent bits via the likes of LeBoncoin and assorted Facebook selling groups. I am constantly getting, is it still available notices from supposedly interested parties, you tell them it is, and either you don't hear another word, or they continue to quiz you about the item, and then suddenly die on you, normally after you have furnished them with your address and phone number. Am I missing something, is there some sort of scam attached to these disappearing buyers.

Wanting to suss out price / competition to sell their own version of the same?

People who find the item is too big / small for what they need?

As an aside - talk to an accountant or someone who knows intricacies of UK tax law to work out whether you are better returning before or after 6th April start of tax year.

I cant see it being as early as that as it only went on last week and zero as yet, not the right time of the year I am told, sold two sets of ali extending ladders a couple of weeks ago then 3 sheets of ondule et blown of the side of the barn, cant get up there now, more pay out.

Regarding leboncoin.
We NEVER give out our phone number.
They can contact you via leboncoin for any info.
Why would they need your number?
If your buying, they're either going to post you the item or you're going to collect it.
If you're selling, they just need your address to collect it.

Spammers can get more info on you with a phone number and an address. We've had people not sell to us when we don't give a phone number. ( Usually an item that's too good to be true) Their item can then still be seen months later. ( Some sellers also don't have feedback scores.)

Something you may not have considered:

Presumably you have a French driving licence which at some point you will want/need to exchange back for a UK one.
For that process DVLA will demand a Certificate of Entitlement from the French authorities to prove that you are entitled to hold that licence and not disqualified, the reverse of what France got from DVLA when you effectuated the exchange from UK to French.

I don't know the procedure for that in France but it may well include a French mobile phone number so don't give that up prematurely.

A number of people who have gone back to UK from Spain have fallen into that trap and are now finding it difficult, if not impossible, to obtain a CoE.

If you have already exchanged your UK licence for a French one, does that make it more difficult to get a UK one again?

On returning to the UK a French licence is valid for twelve months. Once resident in the UK an application to obtain a UK licence is quite straightforward using DVLA form D1. DVLA will have a record of the previous UK licence that was exchanged.

Order form D1 from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency.
Send the form and any documents you need (including your driving licence) to the address on the form.
Your licence will usually arrive within 3 weeks. It might take longer if you’ve told DVLA about a medical condition and your details need to be checked.

Seems to be a bit of contradiction here, I know friends recently returned to uk, as said, filed out a simple form and the licence was issued by DVLA, wonder if I will get my class one heavy goods reinstated, not that I need it.
