Human history is a succession of extinction events. Anyone thinking this will not happen again is kidding themselves.

I can't remember who said it - it was some years ago now. We had reached our level of evolution, and were starting to go backwards. I see that everyday now.

The theory of evolution is that living things adapt to the changes in their environment through natural selection of the fittest.
For probably 100+ years, humans have stopped developing through changes to the environment and have instead adapted the environment to suit themselves.
