Members only section - do we need it?

I have stated elsewhere that I saw little point in it, but I have changed my mind after reading others' views, and in particular LG above. So yes from me.

There is another new forum that doesn't allow guests to have a look without registering, a step too far imo, I prefer one private section here to that.

Yes ! I agree with [mention]exile[/mention] and [mention]Pathca[/mention].
It could be useful for discussing things that might be dodgy or for more personal issues.
If outsiders really want to know what's going on, they could join the forum ....

Not in favour. Can't see what benefits it gives. As for members exchanging sensitive views that only works if the members all know each other. I don't know any of you from Adam. But I could still see all the stuff and you have no reason to trust me.

Yes but there’s serious stuff we don’t want the world and his wife to read ,serious stuff that we only want a few to read and then the stuff we keep to PM

Agreed, but what is so sensitive you would discuss it on a forum for total strangers to read - even if there are just 90 odd people here at the moment. I cannot think of any subject only 'MEMBERS' need to read - sounds a bit elitist to me. The forum itself provides a platform for a vast array of things to be shared and debated between members why do we need more - I don't think we need it
