I hadn't a clue what it was called, but I've managed to find out : Rubber tip stylus pen.
Bit of a mouthful, isn't it !

Nothing new there; There was the little stylus that was needed to use the keyboard on early watches.

Yesterday came suddenly. Once, on a sunny spring day, I was walking through a park. In front of me a young couple in love. Hand in hand, les yeux dans les yeux. Then suddenly there was the familiar sound of one of those little Nokia mobile phones, a 3310, still without internet and a stunning standby time of many weeks and battery easy to replace.

He let go of her hand and delved into his other conversation partner. She looked at him for half a minute and then picked up her own phone and started a conversation with someone invisible to the onlooker as well. They strolled on but now a metre away from each other, their gaze focused on someone in the invisible digital distance.

I was amazed: if this is a harbinger of the future, it made me quiet for a moment. Food for thought. Back to this promising future.

Many versions available. I have a couple of pens which have a rubber tip through which the ball tip extends and retracts. Ideal for the 10" infotainment screen in the car to prevent finger marks on the screen and adds an extra 5" of reach.

On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Also interesting, this Anti Cloud statement in Germany.

In Germany and many other countries, thousands of USB sticks are sticking out of walls seemingly at random.
Anyone who walks through (public) life attentively may have noticed it before: USB plugs sticking out of some walls seemingly at random. Hidden behind them and within the walls is the body of a storage medium - but why?

In fact, this appearance is not the work of anti-technology construction workers, but a kind of work of art with an anti-cloud statement. And it also comes from Germany. Read the background here, in German.

Real soon now I'm afraid: no space left for hardwired Fred Flintstone connections, notebooks and iPads getting thinner and thinner, direction Cloud is the way to go. Everybody happy?

I suspect the great unwashed are pretty much ready these days to accept everything they consider personal private data will be kept in "the cloud" to be left in the care of some third party and plundered by any hacker.
I don't believe all the nonsense about encryption making it safe. Do your research and discover how many corporate and government data bases have had their encryption cracked and over the last few years have paid over $100 million to a Russian ransomeware gang to get back control of their data systems. Just say no.
