THE BEST BIT OF CHRISTMAS

#12 Post by Loup-garou »

I appreciate all the thoughts and memories - perhaps Christmas offers a perfect opportunity to reminisce. We will certainly think and talk about the two dogs we lost this year and, no doubt wipe the odd tear away whilst remembering all that they gave to us.

Back in the UK days, we too ate out but on Christmas Eve evening and always a curry that would contrast completely with what was to come in the following days.

One thing I did forget about Christmas was ghost stories. My daughter and I like them but, these days, it seems nobody is writing or producing good new ghost stories and any that are screened over Christmas are old and being repeated for the umpteenth time.

We lost our last 2 in the same year 2 years ago. We still shed a tear for them ... and all the others who have gone.

We had curry on Christmas day a couple of years ago and we're having fish this year. Turkey for two doesn't press the right buttons for us and I've never liked the "trimmings" that go with a turkey.

@Char I echo Demi's hint about the Christmas lights - they're fun !! And the snow 8-)

For many years I wanted to avoid the excessive roast blowout that is known as Xmas dinner. I thought it would be nice to go to an Indian restaurant instead. For various reasons I never got my curry. The best bit of the whole thing is when it is over.

I do love L-g's post about the dogs. They are a wonder during both good and bad times. My best friend never complained at having to live in an Austin Montego estate for a short time, and she never complained about whatever was offered as a meal. Life without a dog is empty.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

We lost our cat in March this year, born in August 2002. Here enjoying his birthday mid August 2004 with his brother. Was it my preferred chair or theirs?

A respectable age, almost 23. We bought once again a Christmas tree to give our house that traditional end-of-year feeling. But it still takes some getting used to, empty without him.

Couldn't agree more. We had 6 months without a dog before we adopted our Aussie. It was so gloomy, particularly over Christmas. The house seemed soulless.
It's quite different now with our hell-on-earth pair. The Aussie is adorable, but has been incredibly difficult to train re reactivity. It just shows how important early training/education is, and it's clear he had neither. Fifi, the BC is much easier but can be led by the other monster.

Life without cats is empty too.......we are cat people have been all of our lives (49 years) and we only have one left now after the dreadful incident with the dog in August.

With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.........The Corpse Bride

Robert, why did you tie me to this leash? I would love to play with those friendly cows that are interested in me. Dear friend, I think they might be a bit too big for you... let's have a closer look. Ready for action: for some reason, the pair always kept a close eye on the kitchen and especially the refrigerator.
