Positive thoughts from me too Mangetout.

We've had the heating on for 3 weeks.

"Putting the heating on" will be a luxury out of our price range soon, but we have two wood burners and lots of wood lying around to supplement the delivery we had at the beginning of the month - even that was in metre lengths so, with the help of my son, we can set to and chainsaw to desired lengths. Anything to keep OH away from the circular saw, that thing should be condemned!

Have had the woodburners going most nights for a couple of weeks. We dry clothes above one, and use the flat tops for cooking.

The advantage of air to air pumps is that they can be switched on and off at will, and that is what I have been doing for some time now. Yesterday I didn't bother but this morning, a bit chilly, they are both on, but at least one will be switched off if the sun comes streaming through the kitchen windows.

I too have a spouse who needs warmth medically, is very slight and loses body heat rapidly, so 'bon courage' from me too Mangetout.

This morning I came down to a delightful surprise left by one of our dogs. She was off her food yesterday, and the results of an upset tum were quite spectacular - it took me an hour and a half to clear up But she's fine today and ate her breakfast. As a result, I've had to open the windows to aerate the place and it's not warm

We've been putting our CH on for an hour or so in the morning if there's a distinct chill in the air and again in the evening once the sun has gone down. I miss the sight of the log burner, but not the mess and hard work involved.

Yes that's always nice when they leave a little something for you Blaze, and they never seem to make a deposit in one place, just love it when it looks as though they are spraying a car. Anyway heating I got another 2 of those wheel along gas fires with the 13kg bottle in the back. We have the wood burner but god it is a right faff about carting all that wood around, splitting it up in to manageable sizes, and then all the infinite dust particles that seem to emanate from it. We have had one of the new fires going it heats up the sitting room really quickly, at least you have some degree of control over it. I think the romantic idea of a wood burner has been surpassed, we need to look in to this heat pump technology, bite the bullet and get it sorted, getting to old to drag logs about.

[mention]suein56[/mention] Yes, all over the kitchen and the hall. Poor thing, she must have been feeling awful. But she really does seem fine today and the fact that she ate her breakfast was a good sign. She's 15 and it's rare to have such a problem, but dogs tend to eat nasty things ....
[mention]hughnique[/mention] We love our wood burner ! We now buy wood already cut to length and our roofer friend lets us take all the lattes we need for kindling. It couldn't be easier and we are not totally dependent on electricity, which many other forms of heating are. We really miss our old wood burning cuisinière from our old place ...
