Mmmm, you may need to check your facts on this one. Firstly the definition of cloud storage and how it is used, by whom.

I can’t find many instances where what I would class as true cloud storage services have been hacked and ransomed, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Apple and etc. Most all of the hacks are on organisations that ran their own datacenters and not to well. I lost my mail and password details due to the incompetence of LinkedIn, you will find most of the issues are due to organisations not being up to scratch. I always use one shot mail addresses when opening new accounts so that I can quickly cut them off. For stuff like banks, government and suchlike you are at their mercy. If they screw up their security there is nothing you can do about it other than change your credentials, though it may be too late. What can’t be forgiven is organisations trying to hide data breaches, like LinkedIn and many others.

Stay safe and keep you data backed up locally and on one or more cloud based services. If you rely on a local backup situation a fire or burglary will leave you with zilch.

You make your own assessment of risk and I take mine. I am far more likely to have my data snatched from some "cloud" server than I am to be burglarised or burnt out.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

If I remember correctly, a large cloud providing server's building was burnt out a couple of years ago in France, resulting in the loss of data by some large companies. I think this is the one https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incendie_ ... Strasbourg
