I have had a couple of TIAs. The first was in January 2020 and the second in April 2021. I was prescribed daily aspirin (Cardegic 75mg). I remember everything that happened and was very aware of my inability to communicate normally. Each time within hours I was back to normal. Both times I went to A&E and was given diagnostic testing. It's a bit scary to think I might have another, but nothing else has changed other than that experience.

I wonder if the second TIA might have happened because I'd become a little less than regular in taking the daily aspirin.

Just read of your good news following your appointment today Vic. Very pleased for you.

I know Veem that you are taking aspirin under dr prescription and it will be low strength, but be aware it can cause big problems if not.
In my case due to being obstinate in not having a hip replacement as I should, I was taking aspirin to help with the pain, result was that I had an emergency hospital visit after vomiting blood then passing out due to a vb stomach ulcer
which turned out to be golf ball size. had four blood transfusions before it was cauterised.
Three years ago now but I learned a lesson.

I would hope that if Veem Asprin is on prescription and to be taken regularly she has been given a stomach friendly version ie enteric coated or disperseable. Most drugs likely to cause gastric irritation this days come in stomach protecting versions or are given along with a PPI medication. A couple of years ago I was prescribed some Naproxen designed to not irritate the stomach, but these were several times the price of the ordinary ones

The version I take is soluble - so I doubt it is enteric coated?

I started off on 160mg, so I suppose the 75 mg presents gives less of a risk.

I experienced the dangers of long term aspirin when we had a dog on it who suddenly began to bleed from the mouth.

No it won’t be enteric coated but soluble will be less irritant
Aspirin is still our drug of choice after immediately after a stroke (unless allergic)

I should imagine that if doug was taking it for the pain in his hip, he was taking way more than you are Veem and I'm sure your doctor wouldn't have prescribed it if it was likely to cause you problems.

Exactly as I posted I think, a lot of people take paracetamol but it has never worked for me.
After my hip op (no pun) our dr gave me some small pills which wouldn't
do stomach damage but were very effective
