I recently re-watched Marigold Hôtel and his portrayal of the retired barrister returning to find a past lover was very sensitively done. He was a superb actor.

RIP Tom Wilkinson
I remember him first from the early 80s in a TV drama Spyship, written by Tom Keene, which was based on the true story of the unexplained sinking of the fishing boat the Gaul off Norway. He has done a lot of film work, but also the stage.
