The Norwegian government must be splitting their sides laughing and wondering what Disney film they've been cast in !

Trump links Greenland dispute to not getting Nobel Peace Prize

It goes from bad to worse .... "Will no-one rid me of this upstart priest ?" He's nothing more than a playground bully who sulks if he doesn't get his own way and hopes that he can wear people down. The funny thing is that far from splitting up the EU, he's doing more to unite it !

Dear Mr. President, i have just checked my diary commitments for April and see that I am scheduled to be watching television then, so, with regret, I will be unable to come and visit you.
Yours
Charles :D

I am pleased and releived to see that some people are paying attention to what is happening in the world outside our little slice of paradise. So little comment or awareness showing in most of the forums I frequent. Perhaps political issues are not allowed. I agree it is difficult to find decent factual and up to date unbiased news. I have tried to find a core selection of good ones but have failed to find many. One that I can recommend is https://www.cbc.ca/news. It is a natinal news agency based in Canada. It stays up to date and has been very good with the tyrant Trump.

Swedish soldiers have arrived in Greenland... Tack!

Officially this is called an exercise, we all know the reason why international forces with a days notice arrive in Greenland...

Chagos Islands: Where it was taken by the US to establish a strategic air base against the will of the people living there. They were kicked out. I suspect the Greenlanders would suffer a similar fate if the EU doesn't grow a pair and tell Trump to "F" off.

Dangerous and unpredictable crazy. Hmmm, sounds like some neighbours I fell out with after looking after their animals over Christmas. Thank goodness they don't have control over the red button - but he does. He really is going batshit crazy and it's getting worse by the day. As for the 8 wars he's supposed to have stopped - most of them are raging as bad as ever.

He must have done something so bad on Epstein Island to try to cover it up this much.

Someone, please put him out of our misery.

The EU has options, real ones, not just words and gestures of solidarity with the Greenlanders. If the Trumpet applies more tariffs on top of the ones we already suffer, there are options open to the EU. Sadly since Brexit not all are available to the UK to join in. Starmer is reluctant to do more than join in with the word games. He prefers to be a fence sitter, trying to cling to the last threads of the "special relationship" that dissolved years ago. "Europe’s biggest exports to the U.S. are pharmaceuticals, cars, aircraft, chemicals, medical instruments, and wine and spirits.
The value of EU-U.S. trade in goods and services amounted to €1.7-trillion in 2024, or an average of €4.6-billion a day, according to EU statistics agency Eurostat."
(from www.theglobeandmail.com) There is an opportunity to slam the door on EU/US trade and hit Trump where it hurts. In reality it would hit Europe equally hard and all of us would have to make sacrifices. It would be worse than the Tory austerity years and maybe more like the WW2 years without the bombs. It is highly unlikely this path would be chosen, a guaranteed disaster for any politician hoping to be re-elected.

Who wants to be first to be chosen to be the 51st state?

I heard on LBC this morning there are thousands of pages of evidence that have been released but not yet made it to the public gaze. Most likely teams of MAGA drones busy with their black felt tip markers redacting anything that might incriminate King Trump.
