JD and the Banjo

Strange that someone mentioned Jim Davidson on here the other day, have not heard a thing about him for years, but evidently he has crashed in to the headlines again. I perused the evenings TV entertainment the other night, and immediately dismissed the Ashley Banjo offering and what I could deduce the programme content was about, wasn't aware that JD was a guest, so all I have seen is a You Tube video of him walking out. I did hear tell he told Banjo he was a good dancer and should stick to that, possibly a fair statement, it is so repetitive with some of these so called stars, they seem to be suddenly swamping the TV, every time you turn it on the same faces, either promoting something, or presenting a quiz show. Obviously JD has had a somewhat chequered past, but some of his reported comments did ring true with me.

Here's a recount of the incident. Didn't see the programme, but in fairness to these younguns furthering their careers, it's the next generation we're seeing - I think we just need to roll with it, and times have changed. Most of JD's material was filthy in his heyday - but it was acceptable then, as was much stuff along the same lines.

Another youngun' I enjoy is Rylan - started off as an X Factor failure, but he has a lovely way with him, and is hosting more stuff. So, obviously popular. I would happily have dinner with Ashley and Rylan, but suspect I would need oxygen nearby on account of much hilarity!

But, each to their own, and I appreciate that different generations are going to like the celebrities of their own era, in general!

I saw Diversity on BGT final and being the simpleton that I am didn't get what part of their dance was about until the next morning when it plastered all over the newspapers

Indeed! I think they went a bit whiter than he expected - he's had the mickey taken out of him big time because of that, but he takes it well!

They are not unique - much the same can be said of many of today's so-called entertainers.

Entertainment does seem watered down these days - maybe because it's geared towards today's younger generation, not so much for us mature "of a certain age" bunch! I sound more like my parents' "what's this rubbish?" everyday!

That's why we like watching repeats of older stuff so much!

I am a keen fan of QI on Dave (and sometimes BBC2?) - usually intelligent humour and guests of a similar age ....

Entertainment in the past was often ‘against ‘ a minority and racist,sexist,homophobic etc (To a greater or lesser degree) As time has gone on it has become recognised that this is unacceptable and people’s tastes have changed
