Snooker world championship
By the fact of inevitable revelations which might surface some years after the event, I fail to see how two obviously talented players, seemingly evenly matched, can suddenly turn in to a one sided match. Let's be honest it would not be the first time that match fixing has occurred in snooker, John Higgins and Stephen Lee to name but two. Just look at Wikipedia to see the list as long as your arm. The way Kyren went off like a steam train, meant he had to be derailed before he got to the finishing post prior to Jak, the underdog, could pot a ball. What a boring match that would have been, and instead of the normal edge of cliff final few frames, running late in to the night, early doors with disappointed punters having to catch the early bus home. To see the difference in Kyren's game was unbelievable, suddenly he was making all the crap shots. I enjoy watching it but am somewhat skeptical about the way it turns out.

Maybe but perhaps it's a combination of Jak, coming from nowhere to a world final, being so hyped up he didn't sleep much plus the occasion getting the better of him.hughnique wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 11:41 am By the fact of inevitable revelations which might surface some years after the event, I fail to see how two obviously talented players, seemingly evenly matched, can suddenly turn in to a one sided match. Kyren has been there before & odds on favourite so better placed to get off to a good start.
I very much doubt that match fixing was in play in a world final.

Whatever word you wish to apply, the fact of the matter is that it has happened before, and no doubt will happen again. As I said one minute Wilson is playing the best snooker I have seen in a long time, then it goes completely the other way, at the same time Jones game has a remarkable turnaround and a complete role reversal takes place. Great entertainment when the underdog fights back.

I didn't see any bickering, just a lame attempt at injecting some light humour that backfired. Anyhoo, moving on swiftly ....
As for fixing sports matches - that's as old as the hills isn't it? No wonder we're cynical about these things!

Unfortunately it's straying in to the abyss again, as my learned fellow poster Mme Bayleaf says match fixing, old as the hills, not that I am suggesting there was anything untoward with last nights match, only the fact that it took him so long to get there after his original charge. Those doubters about fixing are probably the same people that over 60 years ago tuned in to see Kent Walton with the wrestling matches on the TV, now that was a farce if ever, but some believed it all.
