Ok I googled after your last clue, but as no-one else has answered I'll say Chateau de Hamel at Castets en Dorthe?

Correct Liz - l'm starting to get the impression that this game is not too popular save for a few members but let's persevere, you never know

For my part, I prefer not to google and rely on my personal knowledge - or lack thereof. No criticism of Liz given no one could give an answer. It is however difficult given the membership spread - mainly towards the west - as shown by the problems in answering the one picture I posted towards the East. France is, as we know, a big, big country.

I could kick myself! I half remembered that bridge, it took me a long time to get beyond it, motoring upstream too late in the ebb. We got to Castets on the first stage of our trip from UK to Mallorca in 1980, and our boat was there for a month with my wife and children aboard while I went back to work in Canada. I also drove across the bridge several times, but although I checked down the canal from Castets on Google Earth I didn't look upstream. I thought the bridge must be in near either Agen or Moissac.

I think a lot of people are interested in this thread, but maybe they don't join in because they don't have photos to post when they guess correctly - I don't have many photos of landmarks or with anything that might point to where it was taken. I am however enjoying the thread and learning about different areas of France.

Many of our scenery photos from trips years ago won't scan well, so if I post out of the SW I have to use and edit pix from online searches.
I like the thread and I don't mind if only a few of us join in. I use my knowledge of geography, and architectural styles, and home in on any clues in the photos to narrow my thoughts to a region.
If no-one comes forward I'll google, but it does not always give the answer!
