Mask wearing
I think we're quite lucky here as it's very rare to see someone without a mask on.
We braved going to a vide grenier today and I was pleasantly surprised to see a gendarme telling someone with out a mask on to go and put one on. There was no excuse for not wearing one as there was a box full of new ones in packets at the entrance for people to take and wear.

Re: Mask wearing
It has been obligatory to wear a mask in Intra Muros, the old walled town in Saint-Malo, for months from 11h to 21h. We were there last Thursday and were amazed to see so many people without masks wandering the streets and no controls.
There is a grande braderie there every year at the end of July. However, Prefecture has told the commerçants and organisers that they would have to cordon off the area and have pass sanitaire controls. Physically and logistically it's virtually impossible as it attracts thousands of people, so it has been cancelled.

Went to a brocante/vide grenier today and while many were wearing masks quite a number weren't. Strong impression that the majority of the non-wearers were tourists. Certainly a lot headed for the station just before the train was due to leave.

Yep that's one of the problems this time of year isn't it with holiday season. I just hope the tourists don't spread these new variants around were ever they visit.

Re: Mask wearing
We stick to masks everywhere other than outdoor restaurants. The prefecture has just declared that it's back to masks most everywhere, due to the explosion of the Delta variant in 06 - that's not a surprise.
The place is packed with tourists anyway, so will just lay low till September. Took my OH half to the local hospital today for a scheduled appointment, we were questioned about our vaccination status and there were clear signs about how it would be after August 1st - no passport or PCR then no entry to outpatients/scans and etc. We are vaccinated so no problem.
Addition: The doctors secretary explained the questioning re: the vaccine. If we needed first or second doses she would call the vaccination center, literally next door, and there would be no queue this early in the morning. That's service.

That's handy to know Dave - thank you, I didn't realise hospitals were affected by the new rules.
Certainly was good service offering you a jab if you needed one.

From today anyone visiting 21 tourist spots in the Dordogne will have to wear masks in public.
Both double jabbed but don't go any where without masks.

Re: Mask wearing
If you went near the centre of Brantome it was mask on. People were eating inside at restaurants with no masks.
And yes I know you cannot eat with a mask on but not ready to eat inside just yet even double jabbed.

It has been obligatory to wear a mask in the old part of Saint Malo since last year. At the moment it's from 11h to 21h (the virus doesn't circulate out of those hours
)
We're surprised at the number of people not wearing them, probably tourists, and there seem to be no controls.
I really don't envy the police here, it's a difficult enough job as it is but the virus has made it more complicated : controls/checks and domestics and probably a lot more.

Re: Mask wearing
I think the is a general acceptance that you can't contract Covid when you are on holiday. In my town(56) nearly everyone wears a mask. I went to a tourist sport Port Louis and there were were very few wearing them (despite it being a local rule)
