Whenever we’ve arrived anywhere in France with such nasty stuff, it’s been immediately dumped outdoors! I don’t recall anywhere in the UK that’s had them, but the same would happen to such nasty stuff - I really hate those chemical smells!
I do use lavender essential oil in our bedroom, both in the UK and France, bought from a lavender farm close to us in the Gard. I also use lime essential oil in our hall and kitchen in our home in the UK, but windows and doors are usually open in the Gard and as much as possible in the UK.

Can anyone here tell me what "freshness" smells like?
It is repeatedly mentioned in many TV adverts.

A walk along Woolacombe beach or Blackpool prom when it's blowing a hooley.

Having done a fair bit of research about this during the last week, and 4 migraine pills later (which is unusual for me), I think it's pretty clear. We probably knew all along that anything that produces a chemical smell is going to be bad for you. I always have windows wide open when using cleaning products in the house. But this takes it to a new level ...
"“To a chemist ‘really clean’ would actually be no scent because the scent is caused by a chemical,” said Ryan Sullivan, an associate professor of chemistry and mechanical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. “Truly clean means very low levels of chemicals.”
The above quote was taken from this year-old article:

The "Freshness" in all those adverts is far from fresh - yet, it's great marketing as it sells well!
To me, freshness is walking outside in the country/coast, where you can't smell any man-made smells (and that includes muck spreading!) The smell of leaves, grass, flowers, earth and suchlike. We used to mock the hippies, but I totally get it now!

I really dislike the "freshness" smells they put into things like washing machine liquids. It's not always easy to find something thats "perfume free" but why would anyone want their washing to come out smelling of vanilla, raspberries or cinnamon ? It's the same with softeners (which i don't use). I have at least found a washing machine liquid that fits the bill in all senses.
Never use powder, as I've never found it gets rinsed off properly, no matter what the washing machine.

And another claim: Full of natural goodness. WTF is that?
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.
