I was playing around trying out putting photos on here - I have been trying to delete them but my 'edit' button has disappeared!

@Sparkle There's now a time limit on editing posts to stop people deleting them later and creating discontinuity in a thread. You can only delete a posting if no-one has posted after you (the little "x" disappears). You would need to have started by deleting your last posting, but could have been timed out if you waited too long
But Charlotte could do it for you if you wanted !

Thank you Char and ok you can leave them be - it's just that I thought they are a bit naff and what came to mind was a comment made by an artist friend years ago (Tom Groom) when I was in awe of their watercolour pictures and said I wished I could do that he said something along the lines of 'an artist whatever the art is only as good as those who appreciate their art so we need people like you'. As I am cr*p at drawing/painting that comment made me feel so much better and I decided to buy not try

@ Sparkle, it's not an exam here that didn't go well. Trial and error is sometimes the way forward. As explained already by Char and others there are several programs/websites/apps out there on the internet making life much easier for the the resizer/compressor/colour enhancer. I've been using the German site picr.de now for more than ten years: most of my forum pictures are simple copy/paste operations from the original output of a camera or smartphone. You then can copy the img content - url between brackets - to this forum. Resizing, compressing, everything but the kitchensink already done. In my opinion a nice balance between the details of the original picture and the compressed product appearing in a forum thread. Sometimes - yes, I also use my old friend Picasa 3 on my W7 and W10 laptops - some minor adjustments: cropping, improving contrast or brightness - before presenting to picr.

Give it a try, as easy as pie.
