5th wave spreading lightning fast across France

#1 Post by Blaze »

This from Le Figaro today :
https://www.lefigaro.fr/politique/covid ... l-20211121
There is also a version in English in The Connexion though I've used up my free looks ...

The pass sanitaire is to put constraints on the non-vaccinés rather than on those vaccinated.
So making life even more difficult for the unvaccinated may be the next step.

We are only too aware of how cases are rising here - today Ille et Vilaine is one of the departments with the highest number of infections. What surprised us this morning was how many people had booked in for their first dose but didn't bother to turn up.
There was anti-vax graffiti on the wall outside the Centre, the first time this has happened. I hope the situation doesn't turn ugly as it seems to be doing in other European countries.

The worry is that France has high vaccination rates relative to some of the other black spots like Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

It is one thing for the virus to take hold in a low vaccination rate country - whereas is another in high vaccination rate countries like France, Spain and Portugal (and UK).

We worry here but just look at the uk.
And they keep on worrying that the delta in europe will spread over there. Just where did it start?
Its still under half here as many each day to uk.
We all just have to be very careful, masks etc.

Whilst I don’t like the Covid statistic willie waving I think it worth pointing out that UK figures whilst much higher than France have dropped slightly recently whereas France have increased dramatically

The Indian sub-continent. But Boris is responsible for its spread to the UK (and thus Europe).

Was that delta in April this year? Not the alpha from October 2020?

Suggest you look at the % per 10m list published in the I. And compare with the same in France, made our hair stand on end and increased our worry for family.
