I suspect that France has many, many more cases that she is admitting to, mainly because there seems to be much less testing.

but all we know is that someone has died and was omicron positive. We don’t know what they died from, their age or any other health conditions. IMO it is irresponsible for the government/media to broadcast cast this without knowing the facts
What makes you think you are entitled to patient data? Sorry this has to remain confidential and frankly it does not matter what they actually died from. Omicron has now been demonstrated to be able to kill people - with or without pre-conditions is of secondary importance.

Is it a contest ,how do you know there is less testing? I listened to a UK minister boasting that the UK has given more booster jabs than than any other country in Europe this morning. Is there a league table and is there a trophy?

There he is! I was beginning to wonder where DaveW had gone! 8-)

On the same day that the UK said "don't bother isolating if you've been in contact with an infected person, just take a test each day". They have apparently already run out of LFT, apparently.

It's one league table you wouldn't want to be top of, and not qualify for the trophy! :?

Been pre-occupied with a bereavement.

There's lot's more money to be made from testing, corruption knows no end in the current UK government.

A UK Minister said on the Today prog this morning that Covid passports don't work, just look at other countries, for example France did it in the summer and it didn't work.
Funny, we still have them over here as far as I know!
I wasn't quick enough to catch his name
How do people live without at least one dog in the house?

It does matter because if the cause of death was cancer and the patient happened to have Covid too, it paints a very different picture. Ditto if the patient was 99

France still is not sequencing as much as some other nations.

This is SARS-CoV-2 sequences by variant, Dec 13, 2021 from https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/covi ... WA~ZAF~CAN
The table for the graph shows France had found 367 Delta and 13 Omicron and the UK 40,329 Delta and 665 Omicron.
The previous week France 4,978 Delta and 6 Omicron; UK 103,661 Delta and 162 Omicron

These are the country total sequencing and total Covid case from GISAID (originally Global Initiative on Sharing Avian Influenza Data) The UK has done about 24% of the total world sequencing and France about 2.6% https://www.gisaid.org/index.php?id=208
