Found in the garden

We know there are creatures in the garden at night - I see hedgehog poo (unmistakable) from time to time though never yet seen (or heard) the perpetrator ! I've been off gardening for a couple of weeks after a finger op. But the stitches have just been taken out so I'll be able to have a really good look around though I'm hesitant to disturb anything just yet. All the grubs I find get put back under the soil !

A real surprise here this morning. Something I've never seen here in over twenty years. An ermine (white stoat) was running backwards and forwards about 30m from the house. Unfortunately my camera was upstairs and it would have hardly shown if I'd used my phone. But I'm better prepared if it reappears tomorrow.

The mimosas are out in this area, beautiful bright yellow in a dull landscape. A couple of bumblebees and one ladybird, crocuses and the daffs are in leaf.

A brambling, the first I've seen here for quite a while. He's competing with the greenfinches and chaffinches for the fallen seeds from the feeders.
Not a brilliant photo, taken through a grubby window

@Sparkle I had a complete brain fart and just couldn't remember the name, so I googled "bird that looks like a chaffinch" and the name came up
