Are the lights going out already?

#1 Post by Spectrum »

On Friday whilst walking into Super U, I had to do a double take, it was dark inside :? at first I thought it was just the entrance but no, every other row of lights were switched off, didn't seem to be any work going on, all the strips lights are new LEDs so not giving out heat, so a power saving scheme? don't know. :? :?

Our village - in line with a number around - is extinguishing street lights from 23:00 to 05:00. While that might be seen as an issue in towns and more so in cities out here there are very few people moving around during those hours. Those that are, will be in their cars.

They're going one step further in Spain, and restricting minimum and maximums for Air cons, as well as requesting public lights out:

Not sure why the story is saying British tourists only - as anyone in Spain will be under the same regime.

A supermarket here replaced all the fluorescent lights with LED "tubes". As a result, the whole shop light level was a lot lower. A few months later the LED "tubes" were upgraded to give a lights of a similar brightness to the old fluorescent lights.

Business generally has been asked to cut consumption. We'll all have to wear more layers when shopping in the winter :D

No problem .. I usually wear a jacket, gloves and, sometimes, even a 'bonnet' when I go shopping in our local Super U in winter 😶

If around December the water levels in the German, Italian and French rivers were to reach an all-time low - almost no water at all - it will be a Christmas by candle light. Houston, we've got a problem.

Row, row, row your boat, between France and Switzerland (Neuchâtel) le Lac des Brenets: a sunny picture.
